NPWRA Annual Awards 2013
The Annual trophies for 2013 were presented at the First Nationals of 2014 hosted by Andover.
TOP STUD DOG FOR 2013 with 114 points NPWRCh Evansent (Elovado x Kinda Gorgeous) owned by June & Alan Foster. Sire of top ten finalists NPWRCh Markamy’s Black Bentley, NPWRCh Shearevan, NPWRCh Chermayeff, Warhorse and NGr Diamonds Star. In second place was Robin Heaton’s Run at Mill (44 points) with NPWRCh Sapphire’s Queen Topaz, NPWRCh Sapphire’s Gem and NGr Maid at Mill and in third was Jane Rankin’s Talk of the Devil (40 points) with NPWRCh Quiver and NGr Another Millworth.

TOP BROOD BITCH FOR 2013 with 34 points Suits Me (Mr Wonderful x Shiny) owned by Jean Goode. Mother of top ten finalists NPWRCh Markamy’s Black Bentley, Warhorse and Angel of Mine. In second place was Angie and Mike Sawyer’s NVCh Savernake Shogun (32 points) with NGr Duncton Spirit of the Wind, NGr Darkling Drifter, NPWRCh Just Maybe and NGr Millworth’s Back and in third place was Angie Parker’s Diamonds Midnight Jade (29 points) with NPWRCh Chermayeff and NGr Diamonds Star.
The Reach for the Star Trophies for the best scoring new Dog and Bitch in the four National Championships of 2013 were Sarah Puxty’s 24lb dog NGr Bring it Back (Bring it On x I’ze a Coming) and Andy Alford and Linda William’s 21lb bitch NGr Another Millworth (Talk of the Devil x Secret Potions).

Dogs League For the third year in a row Jane Rankin’s 25lb NPWRCh Quiver (Talk of the Devil x Fun to Run) won the Dogs League, securing 75 points from his best scoring 10 opens. In an identical 1-2 to last year Dave and Sandra Bursey’s 27lb dog NPWRCh Markamy’s Black Bentley (Evansent x Suits Me) was runner up on 66 points. Just 4 points behind, Jeanette Fage’s heavyweight NPWRCh Chermayeff (Evansent x Diamonds Midnight Jade) made his first entry into the Dogs League on 62 points, 2 points ahead of 32lb half-brother Warhorse (Evansent x Suits Me) belonging to Vince and Julia Gajny. Barbara Jackson and Alan Haddrell’s 26lb dog Spellbinder (Alchemist x Shadow Dancer) made his first entry in the Top Ten on 58 points, a clear 10 points ahead of June and Alan Foster’s 20lb NPWRCh Shearevan (Evansent x Summa Breeze) in 6th who also became a Champion this year. A late injury saw Rob Hughes and Darcia Gingell’s 30lb NGr Duncton Spirit of the Wind (Fly the Wind x Savernake Shogun) drop a couple of places to finish 7th on 44 points, just a point above full brother NPWRCh Just Maybe (29lb) belonging to Lesley and Mick Hinson who had also had an injury hit year. Securing the final two positions nine points behind their nearest rivals was Sarah Puxty’s 24lb Bring it Back (Bring it On x I’ze a Coming) and Gill Harcombe’s 32lb NGr Darkling Drifter (Fly the Wind x Savernake Shogun) on 34 points.

Bitches League At the age of 5, Angie Parker’s 21lb NPWRCh Sapphire Queens Topaz (Run at Mill x Diamond’s Sapphire Star) was a clear winner of the Bitches League, scoring 77 points from her ten best scoring opens. The runner up on 70 points was Chris and Norman Heaton’s NGr Maid at Mill (Run at Mill x Highland Lassie) who had moved up 4 places from the 6th position she gained last year. Outside of the top two a whole host of new bitches made it into the Top Ten for the first time, kennel mate to the winning bitch, NGr Diamonds Star (Evansent x Diamonds Midnight Jade) 18lbs was just 4 points ahead of Andy Alford and Linda Williams’ NGr Another Millworth (Talk of the Devil x Secret Potions) who took fourth position in her debut racing season running off 22lbs. Norman and Kath Ingley’s 24lb NPWRCh It’s Me (Devil’s Double x Remember Me) gained her Championship title at the first Nationals this year and secured 6th place with 50 points. NGr Millworth’s Back (Fly the Wind x Savernake Shogun) also owned by Andy Alford and Linda Williams claimed 7th position on 42 points ahead of Stuart Ronney’s new 24lb charge Angel of Mine (Evansent x Suits Me) on 38 points in 8th. 28lb bitch NGr Shakira (Now a National Champion) (Diamond Geezer x Black Silk) belonging to Janis Burrows, came 9th with 37 points, just one point ahead of Alison and Andrew Ingley’s homebred 26lb bitch Fools Gold (Memory Man x Crystal Maize) in tenth.
Consolation League Ray and Gaye Scutter’s heavyweight champion NPWRCh Wilsdon Starr (Evansent x Geisha Girl) was a clear winner of the Consolation League, gaining 35 points from 6 qualifying opens. Runner up was Andy and Anna O’Brien’s 24lb NGr Any Other Business (Evansent x Tipsy) on 25 points with Captain Morgan (Memory Man x Geisha Girl) belonging to Andrew and Alison Ingely in 3rd just one point behind. Nicola Walton’s Typhoon Bill was 4th on 20 points with the dogs in the next six positions only having 3 points separating them, namely Chris and Sarah Button’s Devilish Ways (18 points in 5th), Kieron O’Brien’s Belle of the Ball and Dave and Sandra Bursey’s Markamy’s Marley (both on 17 points in joint 6th), Melissa Blackmore’s Strongbow (16 points in 8th) and Lilo Lil and Fool’s Gold (both on 15 points in joint 9th and both belonging to Andrew and Alison Ingely).

Veteran League In the closest finish out of all of the league’s, Ilid and Mike Head’s NVCh White Stiletto (Little Lucifer x Misty Dawn) came top of the Veteran League scoring 63 points from her 10 best scoring opens. Just 2 points behind was runner up NVCh Enchanter (March Wind x Just for Fun) belonging to Barbara Jackson and Alan Haddrell, who beat litter sister NVCh Fleur owned by Daphne Kitchen into third place with 50 points. Julia and Vince Gajny’s Ypres (Mr Wonderful x Shiny) took 4th position with 46 points from 10 opens, 3 points ahead of Tony and Maureen Mitchell’s NPWRCh.NVCh Morton’s Double Take (Elovado x Kinda Gorgeous) who gained 43 points from just 7. Roy and June Winrow’s Millipede (Fuller Spirit x Lost Link) was 6th on 41 points, 2 points ahead of Alison and Andrew Ingley’s NVCh Geisha Girl and Jeanette Fage’s Mies Van Der Rohe (March Wind x Diamonds Sapphire Star) who both tied in 7th place on 39. Dave and Carol Brown’s NVCh Satin Sundown (Satin Spirit x Tophi Nose) gained 36 points in 9th place and Mandy and Derek Thomson’s NPWRCh Blue & White Dynamite (Red Devil x Diamond White) came 10th on 34.
Veteran Consolation League Winning the Veteran Consolation League on a total of 33 points was Julia and Vince Gajny’s The Menin Gate (The Bear x Savernake Pied Wagtail). Runner up on 24 points was Bee United (Devil in Me x Wild Witch) owned by Colin and Jenny Bloxsome. 5 points behind in third place was Ilid and Mike Head’s Elegant Belle, with Melissa Blackmore’s Squashbug in 4th place on 16. Millipede was 5th on 12 points with three dogs tied in 6th position on 6 points, namely Maggie Wing’s Kangarooby, Linda Turner’s NVCh What Fun and NVCh White Stiletto. Gary and Cheryl Coulburn’s The Right Stuff and Ypres came joint 9th on 5 points.
Unfortunately due to the persistent rain not all winners were present to have their photos taken. We look forward to welcoming you all to the Second National Championships of 2014 being held at the Northern at the end of May.
